This course is aimed at Secondary school teachers and TTC tutors as well.
The main aim of the course is to explore thew notion of critical/intercultural literacy. Through the screening and critical discussion of several films the audience will have the opportunity to analyse how the students' intercultural competence may be enhanced.
The following is a tentative list of some of the films which will be screened:
- "Secrets and Lies", "Moolaade", "Brick Lane", "Bopha" & "Sector 9".
- "Secrets and Lies", "Moolaade", "Brick Lane", "Bopha" & "Sector 9".
After a brief theoretical introduction several scenes from diverse films will be explored taking into cosideration how editing and mise-en-scene contribute to the (de) construction of cultural stereotypes.
