Literature teachers and readers who are interested in deepening their knowledge of metaphor and metaphor analysis. It is specially aimed at people who are interested in literary development.
- Discuss the concept of "metaphor" from a cognitive perspective.
- Recognize and analyze different kinds of metaphors in literary texts and discuss their functions.
- Discuss ways of raising cognitive awareness of metaphors at school.

- Traditional definitions of metaphor. Metaphor and similes.
- Metaphors in the cognitive model. Target, source, ground, mapping. Conceptual system vs. linguistic system.
- Classification of metaphors: Conceptual metaphors: conventional and unconventional, orientational and ontological.
- Metaphor in Literature: Poetic Reworking of Ordinary Metaphors.

The coordinator will present the topics with examples. Participants will be required to work on samples to recognize different kinds of metaphors. They will analyze metaphors and discuss their function in context. They will reflect on how to teach metaphors at secondary level.
