Primary and Middle School Teachers who already have attended the course "Helping Teachers Become Storytellers" in 2006.
To enable teacher storytellers to:
- Respond to texts creatively.
- Develop strategies to adapt materials they wish to use.
- Hone their storytellers' voice.
- Experience self-control and reassurance when telling stories.
- Enrich their acquired basic skills by exposure to and feedback from peer audience.
1. The storytelling event: teller, story, audience.
2. Strategies to further enhance imagining, voice and expression, posture.
3. Finding one's own personal style.
4. Bringing words alive .
5. Sharing minimal stories with peers; giving and receiving feedback to/from peers.
The coordinator will provide a sampler of brief written texts for participants to adapt and present orally. Participants may choose to bring their own story to adapt and present. If so, they are encouraged to choose a personal anecdote or any brief text chosen from the folk tradition.
Brief introduction by coordinator followed by pair/small group work,
and personal/small group response to activities and/or texts
