Martha Patricia De Cunto

She holds a Master of Arts in Literary Linguistics from the University of Nottingham, UK and is currently doing a PhD in Literature at the University of Buenos Aires. She is also pursuing a Master's Degree in Cultural Studies at UNR. She has been a lecturer in American Literature, Children's Literature, YAL Literature and Introduction to Literary Studies at I.E.S. Lenguas Vivas "Juan Ramón Fernández". She has also taught Creative Writing at ISP “Joaquín V. González”. She has been a teacher of Language and Literature in several schools in Buenos Aires for more than 30 years.
Literature teachers and readers who are interested in teaching short fairy tales for young readers and who would like to discuss gender issues in the classroom
1) Discuss similarities and differences between feminist and fractured fairy tales.
2) Read and discuss two feminist and two fractured fairy tales and recognize their main characteristics.
3) Discuss gender issues.
1) Masculine vs. feminine discourses.
2) Feminist fairy tales as symbolic representations.
3) Fairy tales and power relations.
4) Deconstruction of traditional role models.
The facilitator will present the topics and will ask students to read four very short tales during class. Participants will be required to identify the characteristics of both feminist and fractured fairy tales, and discuss the themes and the topics presented in the content area.
