Susana Fiordalizzi

Graduate teacher of English from I.N.S.P. en Lenguas Vivas "J. R. Fernández". She did a posgraduate course in English Nineteenth & Twentieth Century Literature at I.E.S. en Lenguas Vivas "J. R. Fernández". She holds an MA degree in Literary Linguistics with the University of Nottingham. She has taught English Literature at IB level. She is currently tenured teacher of Children's Literature at I.E.S. "J. V. González". She has been teaching English Language courses for adolescents and young adults for over twenty years.
Literature and language teachers.
- To acquaint teachers with visual narratives which learners might find more appealing than traditional textual narratives.

- To acquaint teachers with the elements of these new visual narratives: general terminology, use of art lettering,
symbolia, perspective.

- To explore "gaps of indeterminacy" in panel divisions.

- To analyze the voices of characters and point of view.

- To encourage teachers to create textual intervention activities and for learners to design visual texts.
NO PREVIOUS READING OF MATERIAL IS REQUIRED.
Teachers attending the sessions will be provided material to familiarize themselves with the authors & texts via excerpts.

- Teachers will analyze the interrelation of the elements of visual language and textual narratives, working with excerpts.

- This course will be delivered in a workshop mode for participants to enrich their understanding of the texts with contributions from the group. Teachers will be introduced to a wide variety of Graphic Novels for various age groups.
