Poetry is always difficult to tackle in Primary school due to the interests and language level of young students. It is the aim of this workshop to present teachers with a broad variety of appealing, humorous and/or shocking poems that will make poetry primary students´ favourite genre. Teachers will become familiarized with many distinguished contemporary children’s writers and their poetry and, as result, return to their classrooms with a wide variety of ready-to-use, hands-on activities to trigger off students’ creativity.
This session will be organized in terms of workshop for participants to enrich their understanding of the poems with contributions from the group. The latter will discuss points of entry, textual interventions and intertextual links which can be established with other verbal or visual texts.
