To help teachers:
- Understand the need to collect clear data prior to teaching.
- Know how to use the data gathered.
- Prioritise the needs of the child.
- Know how to teach for the necessary strategies.

The workshop will look at the need to build a firm foundation based on data from which to develop an understanding of the needs of the child. From this we will investigate the ways to analyse and use this data to decide the most appropriate teaching strategy for the child. The workshop will then look at how to determine which learning needs may best suit the group and conclude with a discussion of the ways to teach a variety of strategies.

A handout outlining a variety of approaches to teaching reading strategies will be given at the end of the session.
This workshop will be based on a co constructive theory. It will be mainly lecture style with opportunities for interaction.
