Upper Primary and Middle School Teachers.
Assessment for learning is the catalyst for the proposed two day programme. Through the lens of assessment for learning we can discuss:
- Teaching contexts and curriculum decisions which require different styles of teaching for whole class, guided groups and independent learning individually and in groups.
- Purposes for asking questions and how questions can be used to shape, inspire and assess learning.
- Setting targets for improvement, the implications of target setting and the children's role.
- Planning to cater for different teaching contexts and learning styles.
- Different purposes and uses for summative and formative assessment.
- Resources and practical ideas for using them in the classroom.
This two day programme will be based on the Cambridge International Primary Programme and makes use of the Progression and Achievement tests. It will also allow opportunities for discussion of current teaching debates in the UK as well as explaining current classroom teaching techniques.
As preparation for this course, teachers whose centres are already registered for the Cambridge International Primary Programme should:
- Work through the online self-study course.
