Mercedes Perez Berbain

Mercedes Pérez Berbain is an educational consultant and teacher educator. She is a faculty member at Pilgrims Teacher Training (UK) and ESSARP (Argentina), and a reviewer for several international journals. She holds an M.A. in Education with Distinction from Oxford Brookes University, UK. She has written materials for Pearson and OUP, and co-edited for Palgrave Macmillan. Her research interests include leadership in education, inclusion, and young learners.
For kindergarten and primary school teachers and coordinators
- Reflect on previous teaching experience, if any, to set new goals and plan to achieve their goals.
- Connect practice to updated learning theories and current educational ideas.
- Voice their own thoughts and find ways of implementing renewed ideas with their students.
- Plan a unit of work.
- Tailor-made planning which acknowledges school aims, learning intentions and curriculum guidelines.
- Your own course planning.
- Class diagnosis, aims and projects.
- Resources. Activities and dynamics.
- Shared and individual goals.
- Assessment and evaluation.
- Yearly planning having educational aims in mind.
- Topic-based term-planning having projects in mind.
- Time-bound weekly planning which gives room for students’ participation.
- Developing linguistic, cognitive, emotional, moral and social skills: why and how.
- From experience to action via reflection and concept formation.
- Embracing diversity today: in our students, in what we need to teach, in materials and resources.
This is an experiential workshop which invites participants to become aware of how planning enables good teaching. There will be plenty of opportunity to discuss, analyse and explore possibility to find ways of reaching all our students. Every participant will have the chance to plan a unit of work to start the year afresh.
