Maggie Brennan

Maggie Brennan is an educational technology consultant working in the greater Buenos Aires area. She trains teachers in primary and secondary schools as well as Universities on how to use technology effectively in the classroom. She brings over 10 years of classroom teaching experience all her workshops. She has two master's degrees, one in Educational Technology from New York Institute of Technology and another in Teaching and Spanish from Iona College, also in New York State. The thesis she wrote on incorporating Podcasting into a Foreign Language Classroom was published in the professional technology journal, Networks. She was invited to present her thesis at the AERA conference in Vancouver. She has her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a double major in Spanish and Communication Arts. Most importantly, she loves teaching and she loves kids, and that's what it's all about!.
This course is aimed at helping preschool, kindergarden, 1st and 2nd grade teachers to use their interactive whiteboards
effectively and efficiently with students who don't know how to read or who are at the beginning stages of reading
- To show teachers how to create interactive lessons that help teach reading, letters and language.
- To instruct teachers how to manage the classroom of many students, when ONE student is up at the board.
- To instruct teachers how to adapt the lessons provided to their subject and grade level.
- To provide time for the teachers to practice all of these techniques in the computer lab with the guidance of the instructor.
This course will include:
- Promethian board lesson examples for Preschool - 2nd grade.
- Smartboard lesson examples for Preschool - 2nd grade.
- Effective classroom management ideas for interactive board use.
- Techniques on how to adapt the content to a different subject or grade level.
I will give a presentation using the Smartboard in the conference room at Essarp. The lesson examples will be first given on the Smartboard, but a verbal and/or written description will be given for the same lessons on the Promethian board.

The second class will be dedicated to practicing and adapting what has been presented. It will be held in the computer lab of ESSARP. Students will use the lesson ideas given in the previous class, and learn how to create them or adapt them to their specific needs.
Bibliography of resources will be given at the class, upon request.
