Advanced speakers of English, lovers of reading
To enjoy and be enlightened by the work of these very different writers in a brief, hopefully intensive, meeting.
Davis, Lydia "Once a Very Stupid Man"
Mantel, Hilary "The Long QT"
Munro, Alice "Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage"

Copies of the material will be made available at Registration.

As it would be ideal to be able to develop this meeting with a high degree of participation, a previous reading of the material is required.

A suggested reading guide would include the following points:
a) Jot down whatever feelings are produced in you as you read.
b) Try to mark/write down the words the meaning of which you are not sure about and look them up; don't fail to dispel the doubt.
c) Devise a kind of chart where you can register:
1) Setting (time and place)
2) Plot
3) Characters
4) Point of View
5) Choice of words
6) Theme/s
7) After you've read the piece, look again at the title and connect it with the theme/s that have been apparent to you.
Group discussion guided by the facilitator.
