Marcela Rodriguez

Marcela Rodriguez is a Specialist in Science Education (Universidad de San Andrés) and holds a degree in Environmental Management (UNICEN). She is a graduate Biology and Geography teacher and has been teaching IGCSE Environmental Management, Geography, Biology and AS Biology since 1996 at various schools in the the northern area of Great Buenos Aires. She is a Cambridge Assessment Specialist, IBO senior examiner and reviser of Science textbooks.
This training is for teachers who have some experience of teaching the IGCSE Environmental Management programme. It is recommended for teachers who have attended the introductory workshop and/or have been teaching this subject for at least one year
Get teachers to:
- Become fully involved with the main changes to syllabus and assessment from 2019
- Share and discuss strategies to make the most of their classes and improve students' performance: teaching/learning strategies, revision, assessment, time.
- Achieve further training using Cambridge standards to mark students' answers
Morning session:

Review of main changes from 2019:
Syllabus content and AO. Discussion.
Operative verbs and rules for graphs: analysis, activities.
Dealing with unfamiliar situations: approaches

Strategies to improve students’ performance:
Time constraints: teaching hours, revision. The time efficient classroom.
Teaching/learning strategies: sharing ideas that work.
Revision and resources.
Assessment, mocks, grading and forecasts.
Assessment for learning.

March 2019 papers: types of questions and markshemes. Analysis and discussion.


Afternoon session:

Marking students' answers to past questions using Cambridge criteria: positive marking, use of markschemes, marking and discussion.
Open forum
Presentation, analysis, discussion, activities, marking.
