Verónica Storni Fricke is now doing her doctorate studies on feminist criticism of Shakespeare's plays at UBA, Filosofía y Letras. She is a graduate English teacher from IES en Lenguas Vivas, specialized in English Literature. Licenciada en Inglés from Universidad Nacional del Litoral. Tenured Lecturer in the Seminar "Shakespeare and Feminism" at IES en Lenguas Vivas. IB English teacher at Tarbut College and Instituto Ballester Schule.
Literature Teachers at Secondary or Tertiary Level.
- To seek the updating of the participants' teaching practice. - To reflect upon the contributions of this theory to the study of the meaning of literary texts and to the approach to literature. - To identify the theoretical framework of different pieces of literary criticism in the light of the knowledge gained. - To consider the possible implementation of these theories in the literature class. - To open the possibility of the elicitation of students' responses to the texts and to their realities which may show awareness of the contribution of these theories.
- Freud's contributions to literary studies. The Oedipus Complex. The Id, the superego and the ego. Hysteria and neurosis. Eros and Thanatos. - Lacan: the linguistic structure of the unconscious. The mirror stage. Signifier and signified. - Bloom: the canon and "the anxiety of influence". - Kristeva: the "I" as the site of desire. The Semiotic order. Abjection. The body. - Cultural Studies: relationship between these theories and reception theory, gender studies, postmodernism and postcolonialism.
Group Work: - Study and discussion of this theory. - Reflection upon the pedagogical implications of this theory. - Analysis of criticism to show examples of this approach to literature. - Reflection on the contributions of these theories to modern criticism and to the study of literary texts.
