A workshop for teachers to promote an active engagement with words.
Multi Story will be using a physical approach to generating vocabulary – creating shapes with the body that conjure up a mood or an attitude; simple actions that encourage a rhythmic use of words.
Multi Story will use one or two characters and situations from their play, Baby Iron Teeth, to show how a play can be used as a stimulus. All the techniques taught during the workshop are transferable to other situations as well.
The workshop will be active. Teachers will experience the difficulties as well as the fun, so that they can successfully guide their pupils in the work. But there will also be opportunities for reflection and feed-back.
Methodology: From physical beginnings, Gill and Bill will develop simple poems using prepared keywords. They will explore the dramatic possibilities of repetition, rhythm, rhyme, alliteration and all the other elements that make words so fun and full of excitement.
