Primary school teachers
Teachers will learn:
-to overcome the fear of teaching Shakespeare to children in the English class
-to delve into the staging and traditions of Elizabethan drama to stir children's imagination
-to select and focus on passages of the plays that are both dramatic and "meaty"
-to provide examples of creative and highly-motivating activities, exercises and games that work for almost any Shakespeare play
-to explore the different adaptations that Shakespeare's plays have gone through (comic, manga, textspeak, fanart, fanfiction, etc)
No previous knowledge of Shakespeare's plays is needed as we will work on passages that will be provided the day of the workshop.
The course will be organized in terms of a workshop for participants to enrich their understanding of Shakespeare's plays with contributions from the group. They will discuss points of entry, textual interventions and intertextual links which can be established with other verbal or visual texts.
