This training course provides advice and further training for teachers, heads and coordinators on how to teach to read and write children using synthetic phonics. It is a revisiting a reviewing of the method, with more in depth explanations on how to apply the programme and get the children to read and wrtie fluently with understanding and good spelling and pronunciation.
• This follow up plus course will explain to you more thoroughly the principles of synthetic phonic and the
English Alphabetic code.
• It will take you step-by-step through a phonics lesson and the key skills of the programme: learning the letter sounds, letter formation handwriting, blending, identifying the sounds in words and tricky words.
• The English Alphabetic Code. teaching alternative spellings
• The importance of reading decodable texts, and writing.
• Practical ideas and activities that can be used in class.
• Strategies for helping the struggling child will also be discussed. A first year timetable is also covered, showing the pace at which Synthetic Phonics should be taught and how to carry on with reading and writing.
