Grace is a highly accomplished English teacher with extensive experience in the classroom and leadership positions in bilingual schools in Argentina. With 30 years of teaching experience, she has honed her expertise in Phonics and Literacy. She regularly travels to the UK to collaborate with renowned Phonics and Literacy experts, staying up-to-date with the latest methodologies.

Grace's passion for Synthetic Phonics is evident in her role as a Synthetic Phonics Trainer and her certification as an expert in the field. She also serves as an Educational and Literacy Consultant, offering valuable advice and delivering training sessions in various countries including Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Brasil, Mexico, Ecuador, and Peru. Her expertise extends to both private and state schools.

Notably, Grace is an esteemed member of the IFERI Committee (International Foundation for Effective Reading Instruction), where she contributes her insights and knowledge to advance effective reading instruction globally. Additionally, she is an Associate of Educators International, actively volunteering overseas for the Department of Education UK.

This course is for teachers who have been using a synthetic phonics programme successfully for a while or have attended the Synthetic Phonics Part 1 course.

Synthetic Phonics Part 2 course will take teachers through the principles of a sound a serious phonics and spelling programme for the whole school and how to follow on from the first year of synthetic phonics (Jolly Phonics or other programmes). You will learn about progression in phonics for the whole primary school using Phonics International and other programmes, Reading as shared, guided and independent as well as Writing, shared, guided and independent writing. It is a step by step course on how to apply the programme and make the best of it.
Learn how to follow on from the first year of synthetic phonics or Jolly Phonics. You will be shown how you can continue to develop children's phonic knowledge enabling them to improve their vocabulary and comprehension into Year 2 and further on in Primary and how to teach the upper forms spelling and phonics.
You will be taken through sample lessons in real classroom scenarios and given guides, structure and pace of teaching. Ideas and strategies for teaching both phonics and spelling in a fun, enjoyable and successful way. Please note: In this course there will not be any introduction to Jolly Phonics.
