Kindergarten and Primary School English teachers for the lower forms. Ideal for teachers who want to make sure they are getting the most out of the synthetic phonics programme or those new to Synthetic Phonics.
This training course provides background advice for teachers. It explains the principles behind Synthetic Phonics so that your understanding of the teaching, and your ability to help a child, is much greater.
This introductory course takes you step-by-step through a phonics lesson and the 5 key skills of the programme: learning the letter sounds, letter formation, blending, identifying the sounds in words and tricky words. Practical ideas and activities are shown that can be used in class. Strategies for helping the struggling child will also be discussed. A first year timetable is also covered, showing the pace at which Jolly Phonics should be taught.
You will be taken through sample lessons and demonstrations of real classroom scenarios.
It is a step by step course on how to apply the programme and get the children read fluently, clearly and with good pronunciation.
