Worked in the Research and Educational Development Unit of the MEyC (1998-1999). CLE (Foreign Languages Certifications) coordinator (2008-2011). English Unit coordinator at the CLE (ME- City of Buenos Aires: 2011-2016). Organised and participated in national and international conferences, published papers and textbooks. Areas of interest: professional development (OL and f2f), bilingual education/CLIL, assessment.

Viviana López Larretchart

School primary head at a bilingual school in the Province of Buenos Aires. Innovative educator with a focus on intercultural education and on the preparation of students for life in the XXI c. Participated in national and international conferences. Areas of interest: professional development, intercultural education, bilingual education.

Daiana Martínez

Graduate teacher of English from Instituto Pbro Dr Antonio María Saenz and Licenciada en Lengua Inglesa (BA degree from UTN). She holds a Postítulo de Especialización de Nivel Superior en Educación y TIC from Ministerio Nacional de Educación and she is currently doing the NILE MA in Professional Development for Language Education, University of Chichester, UK. She has worked for more than 15 years teaching English at primary and secondary school institutions. Lecturer of Language and Culture at Instituto Saenz. Innovative teacher whose projects have received several awards. Areas of interest: technology-enhanced education, reading comprehension, professional development.

Taking risks and being innovative are important ways to go about teaching and learning. They are undoubtedly two of the skills our XXIc students need to develop. Becoming global citizens capable of engaging in collaborative and cooperative projects with people from the rest of the world is another key skill our students need for the future.

In this presentation we will share the different global experiences our students have had as a result of their participation in our new school project called “Bringing the World into the Classroom”. The interaction between schools is carried out by means of synchronous meetings that Newlands students hold with students from other parts of the world via Skype or Google Hangout. During the meetings students play games, tell stories, engage in research tasks, solve problems among many other highly motivating tasks with the purpose of achieving a certain goal decided upon beforehand by the teachers involved.

By engaging our students in enriching and inspiring tasks which enhance cross-cultural learning while developing their language and digital skills we aim at developing intercultural competence as well as exploring innovative and challenging teaching practices.
