Michael Deely is Principal at Cathedral Catholic High School (San Diego, CA), one of the best High Schools in the US. He holds a Master’s degree in History with emphasis on Latin America.
As principal, he has expanded the school curriculum so as to include more Advanced Placement (AP) and honours courses and extended a special education programme that now serves 175 students with documented learning differences. During this time, scores for the SATs have increased a 10% in Oral, Maths and Critical Writing. He has also led a transition programme for technology without increasing tuition as he lowered costs by reducing textbooks and switching to eBooks.
Heads, deputy heads, coordinators and teachers interested in exploring different alternatives of international networking and acquiring new teaching strategies on collaborative learning.
In this session, the presenter will talk about online exchange programmes which students in Argentina can adopt, engage in online discussions with US students, attend language lessons and work on collaborative projects. This programme carries a dual enrolment in the US and partner schools in Argentina, Spain, Australia, and France. The experience gained through this global networking could lead into short visits and long term connections.
