Francisco Lozano, Academic Director of Thomson IberoAmerica Services, holds a BA in education from Harris-Stowe State Teachers College, St. Louis, Missouri, and an MA in Intercultural Education from Universidad de las Américas in México City. He has materials development, program design, and testing for over 35 years. Francisco is a founding member of MEXTESOL and a frequent presenter at international conferences. He reports that he recently took his first online course.

Abstract: Students today are specially fortunate. They have access to a repidly expanding universe of learning content and formats supported by interconnected galaxies of ever-developing technology. In this presentation we will look at state-of-the-art technology that can make internet-based e-learning and e-teaching accessible, effective, and enjoyable. We will look at various types of internet-based learning activities. Finally, we will also see how learning management systems can empower students to become more independent and how LMSs can help teachers save valuable classroom time and keep track of their learners' porgress.
