Extension Professional Development is designed for teachers who have been teaching Cambridge International programmes and qualifications for at least two years or one exam cycle
Teachers will typically:
develop a deeper understanding of syllabus aims and assessment objectives
learn about updates and changes to our syllabuses
learn how to prepare learners for the expectations of the assessment
explore how to use sample questions and examiner reports to support your learners
further understand and apply mark schemes to recent candidate responses
review curriculum resources and teaching strategies, and how to use these in short, medium and long-term planning
share ideas with other Cambridge International teachers.
Have you been teaching a Cambridge syllabus for more than two years? Have you prepared more than two cohorts of learners for our assessments? Would you like to find out more about the issues raised by our Principals Examiners report? Extension Professional Development enables teachers to engage with Cambridge syllabuses in greater depth and build confidence in their delivery.

The trainer is a subject matter expert and will be able to answer questions relating to any live syllabuses. All other activities can be completed regardless of the syllabus you are currently teaching.

The materials contain candidate responses and show how you can use these to apply to the mark schemes. However, please note that Cambridge can only provide real candidate responses for syllabuses that the first exam series has been completed.

Extension courses are delivered by accredited and quality assured trainers with a range of relevant classroom experience to help you implement this syllabus effectively. In addition, many of the Cambridge trainers have been involved in some aspect of marking for this subject; however, in the interests of confidentiality and validity, Cambridge International does not provide professional development courses delivered by examiners who have seen live papers.
This virtual professional development is a lot like face-to-face professional development. However, it's held over Zoom.
Each session will be run in a live format so you will be able to see and talk with the trainer and other course participants as well as take part in interactive activities.
