Owen Sheers’ Skirred Hills is an invitation to reflect on different aspects of life which will definitely capture our students’ attention given the style, tone, and vocabulary used. Therefore, this book of poems -and this author in general- become an attainable and enriching goal when thinking about A/AS level literature exams. It is the main objective of this course to discuss and explore the different possibilities in which we can engage students in the classroom and while thoroughly prepare them to meet the expectations of the A/AS literature exams. By approaching several poems from the collection we will explore ways in which our students can have access to deeper readings and analysis to succeed in their writings.
