Sonnets continue to influence writers today. Over the centuries, women and men have extended and transformed the sonnet to allow their voices to be heard. Many different kinds of sonnets are being written today and we will read sonnets addressing familiar themes in contemporary language.
Yet there is more to a sonnet than its structure. A sonnet is also an argument, a story, a deep feeling that builds up in a particular way.
Full of metaphors that relate and move from one to another in order to give us the final picture.
During this workshop, teachers will go through a wide range of activities, techniques and strategies that can be done online and/or in class.
Approaching sonnets in a friendly way, finding the story behind, writing a script, developing characters, exploring language.
All these activities, key themes and motifs will be explored through different types of sonnets.
