Fernando Lasala Quintana

is a teacher of English from ISP "Joaquín V. González". He holds an MA in English Language Teaching from Thames Valley University, London, and a postgraduate degree in Contemporary Literature in English from ISP "J. V. González". He is currently doing an MA in English Studies with the University of Nottingham. He teaches English Language and Literature at secondary school and tertiary level.
Fernando has held management positions as Head of English and IB Coordinator at Colegio Palermo Chico, Deputy Principal at Northlands School, Deputy Dean at IES en Lenguas Vivas "J. R. Fernández" and Head of Secondary at Cardinal Newman College. At present, he is the Headmaster of St Hilda’s College.
This Certificate is a practice-based qualification for the continuing professional development of practising teachers working, or preparing to work, in a bilingual education programme.
The Cambridge International Certificate for Teachers in Bilingual Education is designed to enable candidates to:

• demonstrate knowledge, understanding and skills for teaching and learning in a bilingual education context.
• become more confident and effective in teaching in a bilingual education context.
• engage with and try new ideas and approaches relevant within the bilingual education context.
• develop as reflective practitioners enriched by working collaboratively with other professionals.
• gain deeper understanding of the unique characteristics of Argentine bilingual schools.
There are seven learning areas within the Certificate syllabus. Candidates complete one assignment that covers all seven criteria. The assignment is made up of a number of practical tasks, based on day-to-day professional work.
1. Prepare for teaching in a bilingual context.
2. Select resources to support learning.
3. Adapt and sequence resources, teaching and learning activities.
4. Support and stimulate learners' understanding.
5. Support learners' active participation and production.
6. Support learners' progress.
7. Evaluate teaching and learning in a bilingual context.
The fee includes the five-month course, administration and international qualification.
Teachers from ESSARP member, Affiliate and Distant Affiliate Schools: one $ 4000 payment or five monthly payments of $ 880.
Other schools: one $ 4800 payment or five monthly payments of $ 1056.



This is a blended course delivered in English which uses an e-learning platform for the on line sessions. The content is introduced through the following activities:


Face-to-face sessions.

2- 25 October: Face to face session with the trainer at the ESSARP centre (5.30 to 8.30pm)

3- 22 November: Face to face session with the trainer at the ESSARP centre (5.30 to 8.30pm)

4- 7 March 2013: Face to face session with the trainer at the ESSARP centre (5.30 to 8.30pm)

5- Planned school visit (during week 15-19 April)

6- 16 May 2013: Face to face session with the trainer at the ESSARP centre (5.30 to 8.30pm)

7- 30 May 2013: Face to face session with the trainer at the ESSARP centre (5.30 to 8.30pm)

Preparation time for final assignment: 24-30 hours
